Hi, Laura’s readers! I’m Caley, one of the gals from HowDoesShe?
Today, I am honored to take a minute to share my thoughts with you…
As most of you, cancer is has touched my life in ways that I would have never imagined. It first started with my grandfather about ten yeas ago. As a teenager I watched him lose his energy, hair, passion, and life to the vicious sickness. Exactly one year to the day after his death, my husband was diagnosed with Lymphoma. He fought valiantly and within a year’s time was given the “clean” certificate. During his chemotherapy treatments I met many people, of all ages going through similar experiences.
One of them was my 8th grade, science teacher’s wife. She was there on the second go-around fighting breast cancer…having already been declared “clean” once. She had fought it for years and it was back, stronger than ever, but so was her courage. I didn’t get to talk to her a lot, but her name was Katie and she was an Interior Design graduate from the same school that I was attending so I felt an instant bond. As I watched and talked to her husband, I came to learn that they were mostly trying to prolong her life. She had 6 young children and would bring them with her one at a time to spend quality time with them during her treatments. She cared and loved her family deeply. I will never forget the way her family talked about her at her funeral. She must have been the most incredible women ever.
I realized throughout that experience of how important it is to be aware of my own family history and health issues. To take the precautions needed to save my life or another’s.
So, in honor of Katie, I felt the need to participate today.
And in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, our very good friend Chickabug has created a FREE Printables Kits that is as useful as it is pretty. It was designed and donated to help any fundraising events you might have.
{When I first saw these, I choked up a little. They made me smile, they made me hurt, and they made me want to spread the word. I hope it does the same for you.}
The details and love that went into each of these photos truly melts my heart. I adore these cookies…
Customizable for that special someone…
And my favorite: Real Men Wear Pink. 🙂
Gorgeous! What a beautiful free printable kit, for a beautiful cause. We support Breast Cancer Awareness.
This 44-page printables set is free for personal or fundraising use! Please take time to share this link with anyone you know that may be able to use it.
