Salty Sweet Mothers Day Mix and Treat Container!

I was provided tools from Sizzix to create my craft and facilitate this post however all opinions and experiences are 100% mine!

I love spring it has to be my favorite time of year and here in Arizona the weather is nearly perfect!!  With Mothers Day fast approaching I decided I better get busy and post some fun and easy Spring craft and recipes!!  Today’s post will not disappoint!!  Its a “twofer”  I am sharing today a fun and easy craft you can use to make easy Mothers Day gifts for mom or just to give to friends and I am including a recipe to fill it with!

I started with this adorable Berry Basket Die by Lori Whitlock!

berry basketI found the most adorable polka dot paper at my local craft store!  It is perfect and matches the salty sweet treat I placed inside the berry basket!

1. Die-cut from desired material and apply adhesive to the back side of the paper as indicated.

2. With the good side facing up, adhere each side piece to the base and apply adhesive to the side tabs

3. Fold the sides up and adhere each tab to its corresponding side. Embellish as desired.
step 3Here is my little basket! It is so cute!  I just love it!
I filled it with the Salty Sweet Treat Mix and then placed it in a cellophane bag.  I used the cute tag on the outside of the bag to personalize the treat and to designate who the gift was going to!

Can you see how cute these would be for a party? I think they turned out adorable!  And the Salty Sweet Treat Mix is to die for the chocolate covered Bugles are amazing I could eat them all out of the mix and leave the rest for someone else!!

Doesn’t that look pretty amazing???  I have to tell you I have a hard time not eating the whole bowl!

Salty Sweet Mothers Day Treat Mix

Ingredients Method

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bag popcorn popped I use the 94% fat free
  • 7 oz. almond bark
  • 8 oz spring sixlets you can find these at Walmart
  • 1 Bag Bugles snack
  • colored jimmies

Method
 

  1. Place the popped popcorn and Bugles in a large bowl. In a medium, microwave safe bowl, heat the almond bark in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each time, until melted and smooth (follow instructions on package for melting).
  2. Allow to cool for about 30 seconds. Drizzle the almond bark over the popcorn mixture and stir to coat. When popcorn is coated spread out on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper, top with sixlets and jimmies (if desired) and let cool. Break into pieces and serve in a large bowl or package in individual holiday bags.
