Are you looking for an easy and inexpensive holiday gift?? This one was soo easy to make and fun!! Today I have an Easy Holiday Craft tutorial for this adorable “Tis the Season” Mug!!
Supplies Needed:
- Red Vinyl
- Silver Vinyl
- Contact Transfer Paper
- Plain White Mug
- Tis the Season File
- Candy Cane file
Directions:
Head over to the Silhouette Online studio and purchase the Tis the Season file as well as the candy cane file.
Once you have purchased those files head over to your Silhouette Design Studio and go to file->library->and select your new files and upload them on a new screen.
To fit the front of my mug perfectly I resized the tis the season phrase to 3.251” x 2.998” and the Candy Cane was resized to 2.289” x 1.127”. Since I was cutting the candy cane and the tis the season in red I was able to do one cut for these 2 and then 1 cut for a tiny silver ribbon.
I loaded my black vinyl onto my Silhouette mat in the left hand corner and fed it into my machine. I went over to the cut settings and only selected tis the season and the candy cane to cut in red vinyl. In the cut settings make sure your material is selected on vinyl and your blade in the machine is set to a 2. Once that is all set up click “Send to silhouette” and let the cut begin. Once the cut is completed remove it from your Silhouette machine and weed out the excess vinyl and set aside.
After those cuts were complete I fed a small piece of silver vinyl into my machine and cut out the bow for the candy cane and that completes my cuts.
Once all of my text and images were weeded I applied my contact transfer paper and pressed firmly to allow the vinyl to stick so I can place it on my white mug. I first applied the tis the season on the front of the mug and added the candy cane at a bit of an angle for placement. After the candy cane was placed I added on the silver bow to give the mug a little pop and I fell in love with the contrast.
This was such an easy project and the mug turned out beautiful!

What a cute idea! I have not ever done any crafts with vinyl, but it looks easy enough that maybe even I could handle it 🙂

This is a neat craft idea. It would be the perfect addition to a gift basket.
