I grew up in California and at just about every gathering we had in Bakersfield we had Deep Pit Beef. Well as the name implies it involved a deep pit lined with coals and beef lowered into the pit to cook for hours and hours. Well I dont have a pit to cook beef in but I still managed to come up with this Deep Pit French Dip Sandwich recipe. No pit was required!
I was over the moon when Swiss Diamond sent me the most beautiful Cast Iron Dutch Oven. It is so beautiful! I was in love the moment I laid eyes on it! I knew exactly what I wanted to make in it. Which brings us back to the Deep Pit French Dip Sandwich recipe. It is so easy and my beautiful new Swiss Diamond Cast Iron Dutch Oven was going to take the place of the pit. I simply placed a beautiful beef roast in the Swiss Diamond Cast Iron Dutch Oven. I sprinkled it liberally with Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning and Pappy’s Choice Seasoning placed celery stalks and onions around the roast covered it with the beautiful red lid and popped it in a 250 degree oven and let it cook over night! That is how easy it is!
