This recipe for Family Heirloom Easy Banana Pudding is one of the very first recipes my mother taught me. I cant believe I have not shared this recipe with you before. It is one of the easiest recipes and one that my family adores.
Family Heirloom Easy Banana Pudding is easy and fairly quick to make. I know everyone has their own family recipe for Banana Pudding but if you dont then this one is for you. It is a cool creamy dessert that is packed with delicious banana flavor. I do not nearly make this enough. We need to put it in our dessert rotation so we get to enjoy it more often. Its such a great recipe that uses everyday ingredients like Shamrock Farms Organic Milk, instant pudding mix and of course fresh bananas. These ingredients as well as Shamrock Farms Organic Milk are also easily found at your local Fry’s.
Shamrock Farm’s has teamed up with the Arizona Diamondbacks to kick off the Grand Slam Give Back ticket promotion on Monday, Sept. 3 to help kick off Hunger Action Month which just happens to be the whole Month of September. Now what just is Grand Slam Give Back ticket promotion? Well in honor of Shamrock Farms’ 96 years nourishing Arizona families, every outfield reserve tickets on Monday, Sept. 3 are just $9.60 plus for every ticket sold, Shamrock Farms will donate a serving of milk to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance as part of its season-long promise to donate up to 96,000 servings of pure, fresh milk to help families in need. The Arizona Diamondbacks are further supporting the cause with a $2 contribution to St. Mary’s for every ticket sold. You can buy those $9.60 tickets HERE
I want to share with you a few key tips for making the worlds best Family Heirloom Easy Banana Pudding:
- MOST IMPORTANTLY– ONLY use the instant pudding. Do not use pudding you have to cook. The cooked pudding will not work for this recipe. Use the size boxes indicated in the recipe only, you want three of the small boxes. (3.4 oz boxes)
- Whipped topping in the tubs comes in a slightly different sizes than what is listed in the recipe. You can not mess up this recipe with a little too much or a little less whipped topping. It is important to get the regular whipped topping– do not use lite, low cal, sugar free, no dairy or any other variations there are. Just plain old fashioned whipped topping the original version.
- Use regular full fat sour cream for this recipe.
- Please use yellow ripe bananas, if the bananas are too green they will not have enough flavor. If they are spotty or overripe they will get too brown and mushy in the dish.
- A great way to battle the bananas turning brown is to “bathe” them in lemon lime soda. I love this little trick and it has worked for me every time. Simply slice your bananas, place them in a bowl and pour the soda over the bananas. I like to remove them and place them on a paper towel to allow the soda to drain off. This step keeps the pudding from becoming “soupy”.
- Family Heirloom Easy Banana Pudding is a “layered” dessert, I started with the vanilla wafers but it’s not important what you start with, but don’t start with the bananas.
