We had a few friends over for Labor Day on Monday and had some of our favorite BBQ foods. I made potato salad and slow cooker baked beans, I even baked a chocolate cake. Hubby grilled dogs and burgers and of course let me tell you about all the leftovers. Yup we had plenty of everything leftovers. I like to send leftovers with hubby to work but the dogs and burgers are kinda no fun as leftovers. I had to figure out what to do with the burgers. I looked on Pinterest and found some great recipes but they were not quite right until I came across a few different recipes for Stuffed French Bread. The wheels started turning and I came up with my own version of and easy Stuffed French Bread.
We had about 4 burgers leftover so I ended up chopping them up instead of crumbling them but either way will work. After the onions are translucent its just a matter of heating up the rest of the ingredients. One recipe had you take the bread out of the loaf and mix it in with the stuffing, I was a bit skeptical but it worked out great because the bread I used was fresh and moist so it soaked up the wet ingredients. It was so good.
The outside of the bread gets nice and crunchy and the inside is ooey and gooey. The cheese gets all melty and OMG it is just so darn good. I honestly cannot believe I have not made this before. And trust me it will be made again.
