New Years Eve is just a day away and boy do I have a yummy and super easy Faux Fried Mozzarella Appetizer! Do you love fried cheese sticks? I do and this easy recipe is so good your going to be making these all the time. Serve with a side of marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping and your going to make some hungry peeps really happy. I cannot tell you how much I love these easy Faux Fried Mozzarella.
The thing I really like about this little appetizer is you can mix and match the dipping sauces and cheeses. For a traditional Fried Mozzarella Cheese Stick then use mozzarella cheese but if you really want to mix it up use Gouda with ranch dipping sauce or cheddar with a garlic aoili dipping sauce! Oh my how good would those be?
Today I am going simple and traditional. Mozzarella cheese and a red marinara sauce. This recipe could not be easier. It is just cheese sandwiched between two crackers then baked just until the cheese is melted but not oozing out of the crackers. Because most cheese sticks are breaded with some sort of crushed crispy coating right? Why not use crackers!
These little appetizers are a bit lighter too because they are baked not deep fried but seriously they have the same crisp taste and texture as a deep fried cheese stick. I love this too because the ingredients are easily found in any grocery store and might even be in your pantry and fridge already!
I used a cookie cutter to cut out the cheese slices to fit on the cracker but you don’t have to do that just slice the cheese and cut a bit smaller squares than the crackers! Bake in a 400 degree oven for just about 10 minuets, until the cheese starts to melt. Serve with your marinara sauce and your ready to go! These would also be great for an after school snack for your kiddos! Serve with a warm cup of hot cocoa on a cool day its a perfect way to warm them up!
