I am so excited to share with you a really sweet craft that almost anyone can make. I was asked to create something using these wonderful products from the new Martha Stewart Jewelry line found exclusively at Michael’s Stores!! Now I did make some awfully cute earrings.
I love them but I really wanted to make something different using these supplies just to show you the versatility of them!
What I came up with is the “Charming Lavender Sachet”! With a few supplies and some basic sewing skills you can whip out one or several of these for gifts or just for yourself. Lavender naturally wards off moths so it is a very common supply used for sachets. You can find it at most natural food stores or online!
This is what you will need:
2- 4″x4″ fabric squares I trimmed the edges with my pinking shears so they did not need to be finished
a small amount of fiberfill stuffing
2 T loose lavender
Needle and thread to match your fabric
3″- 5″ of coordinating ribbon
Sewing Machine
Martha Stewart Charms and Jewels- your choice
Martha Stewart head/eyepins
Martha Stewart Flat Nose Pliers
jump loops
Making the Sachet-Place the two fabric squares wrong sides facing each other then sew 1/2″ around edges of fabric square leaving a 2″ opening on one side of square.
In the opening carefully stuff fiber fill into the sachet, then add in the lavender.
Once filled you can add the ribbon loop and sew the opening closed with the sewing machine.
Note: The sewing can also be done by hand you will just need to be careful and make your stitches very small so the lavender stays in.
This is the fun part!! I was provided all kinds of pretty beads and charms to work with and I had a hard time choosing which ones I wanted to use.
I started with this adorable rhinestone bow and all I did was stitch it on the sachet!
Well that was easy enough but I really want to show you a little more so I chose these pretties! I used an eyepin and two beads and this darling octopus!! Using my Martha Stewart flat nose pliers I opened my jump rings and slipped it through the top loop above the beads, I simply closed the jump loop and it is ready to go!
With my needle and thread I stitched through the jump loop attaching it to the sachet. I placed this one on the top middle of the sachet but you can really stitch it anywhere you would like. Now with the ribbon loop you simply slip this over your clothes hanger or simply place it in your drawers and you have a “Charming” Lavender Sachet to help preserve your clothing!
Here are some other amazing crafts made using the new Martha Stewart Jewelry line!
