As the summer is coming to a close for some that means the end of summer grilling!!! Here in Arizona we grill year round!!! At our house we love Beef!! I just love the phrase “Beef its whats for Dinner” it makes me smile every time I hear it!!! Today I have a quick and easy recipe that you throw on the grill with a tangy and delicious sauce to serve on the side!!! Flat Iron Steak with Cilantro Lime Sauce.
I have to tell you I have not cooked a Flat Iron Steak but have eaten them in restaurants multiple times so I decided it was time to grill one at home!!!
Beef has so many nutritional benefits and for me a big one is I am chronically anemic so eating red meat that is rich in iron is a no brainer for me!!! It’s always nice to have a legitimate excuse to eat a nice steak!!! Right??!! Take a look at the other health benefits Beef has to offer!!

Flat Iron Steak with Cilantro Lime Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 lb Flat Iron Steak or Top Blade Steak
- 1 t. Paparika
- 1 t. salt
- 1 t. freshly ground pepper
- Cilantro Lime Sauce
- 2 T minced Garlic
- 1/2 C fresh cilantro
- 3/4 C fresh parsley
- 1/4 C red wine vinegar
- 2 T lime juice
- 1/3 C Olive Oil
Instructions
- Remove Steak from refrigerator about 20-25 minuets before cooking so it can come up to room temperature.
- Pre heat grill to medium high heat.
- Combine dry spices in small bowl then season both sides of steak with seasoning. Place steak on grill and cook for 4-7 mins on each side to medium rare. Remove from heat and let rest for about 5 minuest to let juices redistribute.
- Slice against the grain in 1/2 inch thick slices and top with Cilantro Lime sauce.
- Cilantro Lime Sauce
- Place all ingrediants except olive oil in blender or food processor and pulse to combine. With machine running , stream olive oil until well incorporated. Serve with Steak.
The combination of the cilantro and lime with the vinegar give this dish such a refreshing zip!! You can substitute lemon juice if you prefer but I highly recommend using fresh as to bottled! It really does make a difference!Have you ever made a yummy sauce using your mini blender??? So very easy!!
The flatiron steak is a wonderful cut of beef it melted in my mouth!! So good and the sauce was tangy and added another layer of flavor!! This will definitely be made again here at my house!!! I also love to use left over steak in breakfast burritos and cheesy quesedillas!! YUMM!!
