With Valentines day quickly approaching I wanted to try my hand at something I have not tried before! I have to tell you this was really quite fun to do as well!! I named it the “Tunnel of Luv Valentine Cake”!!!
Want to know how to make your own?? Here is what you will need:
2 Cake mixes (I used red velvet and a yellow cake mix)and the ingredients to make each cake
1 recipe/batch of your favorite frosting (I made a basic cream cheese frosting)
and 11″x15″ jelly roll pan
A Bunt Pan
Small heart cookie cutter (mine was 2.5″)
Mix your first cake mix according to the package directions and bake in the jelly roll pan. (I used the Red Velvet cake for this part.)
When the cake had cooled cut out as many hearts as you will need I did not count mine I used as many as I could fit in the bunt pan this will make more sense shortly!
Next mix your second cake mix according to the directions on the package. Below you can see the photos of the next steps:
Pour about 1/4 of the cake mix in your bunt pan. Take the heart cut outs and place them upside down in the bunt pan pushing them into the cake batter. Keep placing the hearts in the pan until there is no more room and they fit snugly against each other.
Carefully pour the remaining batter over the hearts until they are completely covered. Lightly tap the pan to release the air bubbles. Bake according to the directions on back of box. When completely baked remove from oven and let cool for about 10 minuets then place a plate over the pan and invert to release the cake from the pan. I used cream cheese frosting that I colored Pink and Red and drizzled over the top of the cake! When you
When you slice into your cake you will see your Tunnel of Luv!!! Fun isn’t it??
I hope you all have a Sweet Valentines Day!! If you try your hand at this please come back and let me know!!
