Craft Studio, Crafty Decor Make it Yourself!!

I was scouring the internet looking for something to use to decorate my craft room!!  I found this amazing Nursery Wall decor.  I loved it right from the get go!

I tried to find the crafter who made these, unfortunately  their Etsy shop is empty:-(.

What else was I supposed to do????  Make them myself of course!!

So here is the how to of Mod Podging plates with Paper dolls and fabric!!

I found my plates at IKEA for .99 cents.  I couldn’t find oval plates and I suspect they would be a bit pricy!  I found a fantastic site for the Paper Dolls called Paper Goodies!  Love these gals!!  They have collected vintage paper dolls and restored them!!  I can only imagine how much time they have poured into restoring these Paper dolls.  It took me forever to select the dolls but I finally purchased the Elaine Stewart Restored 1955 Whitman Paper Doll set.

I loved all the clothes and it has been a challenge to choose 9 for the wall!!

Here is what else you will need.

Mod Podge

Foam Brush

Scissors

Fabric of choice (I purchased a drop cloth which I love how it looks on the finished product!!)

First select the clothes and carefully cut them out.

Place about a tablespoon of Mod Podge on the back of the plate and spread out in a thin layer.

Place the paper doll face down on the back of the plate and cover with another thin layer of Mod Podge.

Let this dry for about 30 minutes.

When this is dry pour about 2 to 3 tablespoons of Mod Podge on the plate back covering the paper doll cutout.

Spread out evenly on the back of the plate.

You will want the to be fairly wet so it will saturate the fabric.  Take your fabric and place it on the wet surface.

I used my hands to smooth the fabric over the plate and then poured another layer of Mod Podge on the back.

I let this dry for a few hours.  When it was dry I cut the excess fabric away from the edge of the plate.

I sanded the edges with sand paper to smooth the edge!!  That is it all done!!!

We hung a trellis horizontally to give a false ceiling effect!!  I love it!!

I made a Pom using vintage pattern tissue!! Love it!!

And here is the finished wall!

In the shutters I have tucked vintage patterns and notions in the slats!!

And my mannequin sports a vintage hat I found at a local thrift store!!

So now the sewing/fabric side of my Craft Studio is done!!  I am getting closer and closer to finally being finished!!
