It has been a whirlwind few weeks. It seemed I cant seem to slow down. I went on vacation, had a death in the family and now with the health issues around the world it seems like I now have some time on my hands. I took a few days off for bereavement and it gave me some much needed time to reflect and to do something I love. I love to bake and I love cake! This was the perfect time to make this Old Fashioned Hot Milk Cake. This tender vanilla cake with a chocolate frosting is a perfect easy dessert for any meal.
This Old Fashioned Hot Milk Cake gets its distinct flavor from the scalded milk in the recipe. It is also a recipe that has been around for a very long time. The other great thing about this simple recipe is most of its ingredients are already in everyone’s pantry or fridge with the exception of the cream for the ganache! You all know I love a recipe that I do not have to make a special trip to the grocery store for ingredients.
I love having a simple dessert to finish off a meal and this Old Fashioned Hot Milk Cake is so easy to make. The chocolate ganache frosting is the perfect way to top off this delicate vanilla cake. Have you made chocolate ganache? It is another easy recipe that makes everyone think you have been slaving in the kitchen all day and it is simply chocolate and cream. I like to let it cool and whip it to make a really fluffy frosting but for this recipe you simply pour it on top of the cake while it is still warm.
