This last week has been brutal. It seems like I have been on the go everyday. Let me tell you I love being busy but as I have gotten older I have begun to appreciate the slower pace and down time. When I was asked to review a cake from Cakest.co I could not refuse. They were kind enough to send my their Mermaid Cake Kit. So trying to work smarter and not harder I figured turning this cake kit review into a Mini Mermaid Party was a great idea. How fun is that?
Now I could not pull this Mini Mermaid Party off all by myself so I enlisted a couple of my nearest and dearest blogging BFF’s to help me out! Rachel from {I love} My Disorganized Life and Liz from Liz On Call really stepped up to the plate to make this mini mermaid party a SPLASH! We had a great time putting this together. Rachel’s little granddaughters even helped out.
First lets talk about this cake from Cakest.co. The gals at Cakest.co thought of everything with these cake kits. You get everything but the fresh ingredients it this kit. They even thought to give you disposable cake pans to bake the cake in plus every thing you need to decorate your cake. If your afraid to work with fondant making this cake will cure you of that! The last time I worked with fondant I swore I would never work with it again. Its hard to work with but not with this kit. These gals give you easy to follow directions when working with fondant. The fondant they send is from the leading fondant makers Satin Ice. It made such a difference when working with the fondant! I have to say I will work with fondant again!
Now I did add some of my own touches to my cake to make it my own. I added some really fun sprinkles to my cake and the sprinkles did not come with the cake. Rachel made a custom Mermaid Sprinkle Mix for this party. The great thing is you can add your own personality to your cake or make it just the way the directions tell you to. It is totally up to you how you want to make your cake. Plus the cake tastes as good as it looks!
