Have you seen freak shakes? They are all over Instagram if you search the hashtag #freakshake it will show you 45078 posts! That’s a lot of freak shakes!! I am so excited to share with you today a super fun Freak Shake Blog hop! That’s right a few of my talented blogger friends and I got together to do none other than a Disney inspired Freak Shake blog hop! Since Beauty and the Beast is just about to come out I decided to do a Beauty and the Beast Beastly Freak Shake!
If your not familiar with what a Freak Shake is let me break it down for you! It is an amazing milkshake topped with just about anything sweet! I have seen them with cake, cookies, donuts and even cheesecake on top of the glass. I decided that because this is all on top of the delicious milkshake there had to be something of substance as a base in order to support the abundance of sweets stacked on top! Of course topped with a cloud of whipped cream!
OK let me tell you about my Beastly Freak Shake. The recipe for the shake is below but lets look at whats on top of that FREAK SHAKE! I started with a nice hearty chocolate iced cake donut! Then that cloud of whipped cream I was mentioning acts as a receptacle for chocolate chocolate and more chocolate! I dipped pocky sticks in chocolate and covered them with gold dragees. Beast is royalty so I had to have gold elements. Tucked into the whipped cream cloud are mini reeces peanut butter cups, mini Hershey bars, malted milk balls, a chocolate pizzelle cookie, a Tim Tam cookie, mini chocolate donuts stacked under the iconic red chocolate rose! I think this is Beast to a tee! Around the rim of the shake is a base of chocolate frosting slathered on then yellow and blue m&m’s, gold dragees, chocolate jimmies and malted milk balls were pressed into the frosting to create even more decadence! The crowning touch is the drizzle of chocolate sauce over the whole thing! Oh my!
The chocolate red rose I made using a chocolate sucker mold and then just threaded the mini donuts on it! Super easy.
The really fun thing about freak shakes is you can do whatever you want. They can be as mild or as outrageous as you want. Use what you have in you kitchen or make a special trip to find fun and tasty things to top your shake with! The sky is the limit with these treats.
