“I have partnered with Banfield Pet Hospital® to bring you this information regarding Heart Worm and Heart Worm treatment. All experiences and opinions are 100% my own.”
I have two dogs its pretty clear and I have shared them with all of you my readers. My dogs are pretty much my babies and I try to take the best care of them I can. Ever since I brought both of them home they find the first blanket or even a towel and burrow under it. I find this little quirk endearing. I even made them their own “burrow bag”. This has been something that has never changed about them! It can be 110 degrees outside and I will find them under a blanket! Its pretty funny. It so important that I make sure my dogs have plenty of blankets to snuggle under! I want them to be happy all the time!
Its my responsibility to take the best care of my two girls! Now you all know I love my dogs they are spoiled rotten. That is why it is so important to me to that I do as much as I can to make sure they are healthy and happy.I may not go to the doctor but I make sure my girls are taken to their check-ups regularly! Last year I signed up both dogs for Banfield Pet Hospital® Optimum Wellness Plan®. I love this plan it takes the worry out of taking my girls in for their check ups. So today I am sharing with you about Cinnie’s Visit to the Vet!
Today’s message is about the deadly heartworm! Just ONE bite from an infected mosquito can spread heartworms into your pet, and that one bite could turn lethal. Treatment for dogs is costly and risky, and heartworms can cause permanent damage to your pet’s heart and lungs. There is no treatment for cats. Isn’t that scary that there is not a treatment option for cats?
I had just taken both my girls in for their check-ups but totally forgot to discuss heartworms with my Banfield Veterinary Team. So I was pretty excited that I was given the opportunity to take Cinnie back in to be tested and receive treatment! Now you have to have them tested before they can receive preventative treatment but that only takes about 8 minutes for test results. Banfield Pet Hospital® has a special offer for pet owners!

Cinnie is such a funny dog and she has some silly quirks! She usually loves to go to Banfield Pet Hospital® and just loves the staff but for some reason she was especially silly when we went for her heartworm test. She was taken to the back to have the test done (three little drops of blood are needed for the test) and was just fine!
When she was brought back into the exam room she was just a little vocal! She was so silly she started barking to the dog on the other side of the door! She even got in a little trouble when the front desk technician came in and told her she was being a little loud!! LOL! I had to pick her up to quiet her yappy little mouth!!
Well when our favorite Banfield Veterinarian came into the room to administer ProHeart6® treatment she hid under the bench! She has never done this before!! I just don’t know what got into her!!
Here are some key things to remember about heartworm.
- Pets need annual heartworm tests and year-round prevention to be safe.
- ProHeart6 is an easy and convenient way to keep dogs protected.
- Banfield’s Optimum Wellness Plans help to support overall pet health, and specifically heartworm prevention, by offering HW preventives, including ProHeart6, as add-ons to the plans.
REMEMBER: You can receive one free exam and consultation at Banfield Pet Hospital® by filling out the form HERE:(Please note that the offer is valid for new clients only, expires 1/15/16, and additional restrictions may apply.)
Its a FREE exam. Don’t you want the best care available for you pet? And its FREE?? I do and I did, Cinnie received her treatment and is heartworm free! That makes me happy!!

Heart wams are really serious and I am happy that you take good care of your lovely pets. good news is that most infected dogs can recover from this. The goal is to first stabilize your dog if he is showing signs of disease, then kill all adult and immature worms while keeping the side effects of treatment to a minimum.
