Have you ever been away from home? For a long time? Or even for a short time. Do you remember how you felt? I remember when I went away to college for the first time. I had never been away from home for more than 2 weeks at a time.  It was an exciting and scary time. I remember a package arriving from home.  My mother had sent me a care package.  I thought it was the best thing ever at the time. Chocolate chip cookies, pictures of my cat and my favorite sweet treat! Comforts from home. Everyone needs comforts from home when they have been away.

I remember my college days like they were yesterday it was a great time in my life and it was when I really learned to cook I had captive taste testers!! Any college guy would eat just about anything that was homemade. Now as a busy mom and grandmother I have to take shortcuts sometimes and let me tell you some of the shortcuts I take no one would ever know I pulled the dish out of the freezer section at my local supermarket! Shhhhhh don’t tell but one of my favorite shortcut freezer brands is Marie Callender’s.

Marie Callender’s Chicken Pot Pies are Mr.Pinkcakeplates’ favorites! Mine too! When Marie Callender’s started their Comforts From HomeProject  and I was thrilled to be a part of it. I shared my thoughts about the project in this blog post from last year!

I have to say I am so glad Marie’s is relaunching this program. Its such and easy way to support the men and women who keep us free and safe! If submitting a photo or purchasing my favorite Chicken Pot Pie will help make this project a success then I am all for it. How about you? I think this is a win win project we get great food to eat and have fun sharing photos and the men and women in the military get the opportunity to have some “Comforts of Home” while away.
