I have shared so much with you all and have told you so much about my little dogs. Sophie is now 16 yrs old and is starting to show some serious signs of her age. Cinnie who is 12 yrs old is still doing pretty well. I see signs of her aging as well. I know the number of days I still have with Sophie are getting fewer and fewer. I worry about Cinnie as she has never been alone she went from her litter mates to Sophie and that is all she knows. I figured it was time to start looking for new family member a four legged member. Now we have a new addition yes a four legged one! Meet Scout our new family member.
When I made the decision to get another dog I started looking at the prices of purebred dachshunds and let me tell you they were way above my budget or conscience could let me afford. I started looking for local rescues and at find a pet websites. My eyes were opened to the needs of these recuse organizations and shelters and it broke my heart. On one web site I saw a little dachshund girl that was 3 years old and I thought she would fit perfectly in our family. Unlucky for me (but good for her) she had been adopted and had found her forever home. I was disappointed but was glad she found a good home! I went to the Facebook page for this rescue and there was a post for 6 puppies. I knew the likelihood of any puppies being available was pretty slim but I asked anyways.
The rescue organize contacted me the next day to tell me that there indeed was one puppy left. I was elated but not sure if now was really the time to bring home a new puppy I didn’t want a puppy Mr.Pinkcake plate didn’t want an older dog so a puppy it is. Scout cam home the next day. He was about 12 weeks old and not at all what I expected. He is a wire haired dachshund not my favorite but he was so cute and I fell in love the minuet I saw him!! Just look at those eyes.
He was pretty timid the next day but I had an appointment to get his final puppy shots the next day. That is when I met Juana the vet tech that was at his appointment. She is all kinds of amazing. She was great with Scout and great with me! She told me how she takes food down to Mexico for the homeless and shelter dogs down there. How wonderful that she is committed to make a difference to these dogs in a totally different country! She collects any donated food and takes it down once a month, the day I was there she had a shopping cart full to the brim and over flowing with huge bags of dog food!
Now I have to tell you about another amazing program, during the month of October PEDIGREE® kicks off their “Fill a bowl, feed a dog in need” program how great is that?
When a PEDIGREE® product is purchased at Sam’s Club, the PEDIGREE® brand will donate a bowl of food to a dog in need. This was perfect for me as I live about four blocks away from my local Sam’s Club. I headed right over to grab some PEDIGREE® dog food for my babies!
I have such a soft spot in my heart for animals of all kinds and I love this video!
I can’t begin to tell you how much my dogs enrich my life, I don’t think my home would be the same without these little paws running around in my home. PEDIGREE® has really stepped up to the plate to help out dogs in need. How easy is it for us to help? Do you have a dog? Do you feed it? How about purchasing PEDIGREE® Dog Food for the month of October? I did its an easy thing for me to do to help dogs in need!
Dogs Bring Out The Good In Us™ and we’re bringing out the good in them™. This program is such an easy way to feel good about feeding not only our dogs but dogs in need!
