“Name.Kitchen and I have teamed up to bring you this post about fun and exciting developments. All opinions and experiences are 100% my own.”
If you have been a follower of my little blog then most of you know I recently quit working full time for the worlds largest Domain Registrar. I was with this company for almost ten years. Yup that is a long time to be with a company. Now don’t get me wrong I love working from home and being my own boss, but I kinda miss being in on all the up and coming scoop in the internet world! Let me tell you I watched domain related things come and go. One that I was the most excited to see finally come about is the ability to register what I call vanity domains. Have you ever wanted a personalized little piece of the interned all to yourself? Something uniquely yours? Back in late 2013, hundreds of new domain endings are now available for use when crafting a domain name for your website. The rest of the world calls them “Not-Com Domain Names” I was pretty excited when I first started hearing the whisperings of these domain names. I was privy to insider information back then and I was pretty excited! Now today there are so many “Not-Com Domain Names” it can be hard to choose.
Let me tell you about a new and fun website that can help you get your “Not-Com Domain Name“. Name.Kitchen that’s right Name.Kitchen notice no .com?? Pretty clever don’t you think? Read what Name.Kitchen has to say about themselves.
“Name.Kitchen, powered by Donuts Inc., provides a kitchen atmosphere around the subject of name creation. It is geared toward entrepreneurs (a.k.a. “business chefs”) scratching their heads for ideas. We offer inspiration on cooking up that perfect brand identity — including the one you take online.
We serve up a diverse assortment of “food for thought” when it comes to naming:

We take a 360-degree approach, with an emphasis on the digital name so critical to success in the 21st century. New options in top-level domains (TLDs), otherwise known as “not-com” choices, expand the naming canvas on the Internet in exciting ways.
Expect a blend of business, human interest and pop culture. After all, every name has a story, and those stories may influence the next name you bestow upon something or someone — or your website.”
I love that they are using “kitchen” as a model. I love being in the kitchen!! But the whole premise of Name.Kitchen is to help you figure out YOUR “Not-Com Domain Name” so with that in mind I did a little sleuthing myself. You see I have always wanted my very own unique domain name in addition to my .com domain but this one without a doubt will be specific and you will have no question what it is all about! I have waited for my “Not-Com Domain Name” to be released to the public!
Do you know which one it is??? If you guessed .recipes then you guessed right!! I registered PinkCakePlate.Recipes! It is uniquely mine and as descriptive as it can be. And I love it! I plan on building a website with just my recipes. Hopefully this will make it easier to find my recipes!
What “Not-Com Domain Name” would you like to register? How fun can this be? So many choices!
